Reconnecting with the Sacred

Aug 03, 2020

In our incarnation as humans there was a time long long ago, when we saw the world in which we lived as Sacred.  The earth, the trees, the rivers, the mountains and also each other.

Over time this perspective came to be thought of as ‘primitive’, and everything that had previously been considered sacred was squished into one larger than life deity and propelled into the sky as ‘God’.

Then with the age of Enlightenment there was a further move away from the sacred as we moved from belief to reason and into a time of disenchantment.

This was not necessarily a bad thing as many of our beliefs were unconscious and involved us giving away our authority to external sources such as priests, priestesses, churches, societies and institutions for our connection to the divine.

We were bound up in an often unconscious relationship with Spirit and the Sacred but as we released those bindings we were in many cases cast adrift because we had...

A Healing Breath

Apr 16, 2020

In the introductory paragraph of my book ‘Custodians: The Solution for an Earth in Crisis’ (2018) I spoke about the Earth needing a Healing Breath’.  I wasn’t to know, that two years later, the pause would happen in the way that it has.

When I was writing the book my thinking was that as Custodians of this beautiful planet, we could consciously give a pause to the Earth after producing and consuming at full tilt for the last 50 years. Our consumption has come at a huge cost to the Earth and its species.

The main tenet of the book was that as world and business leaders were not going to lead the way, we could as individuals become Custodians of the Earth and thereby consciously slow down and stop the runaway train.

As Custodians we could live lives more aligned to the Earth and to our true natures. This would help our quality of life and give the Earth that Healing Breath it needs and deserves.

We can now...

Today I Maxed Out

Apr 07, 2020

This morning I walked up to the village wearing a mask and I maxed out.

I felt a major counter revolution within myself between Logos and Eros.

Logos being the rational, reasoning part of ourselves. And Eros being our caring, loving and relational part.

In our modern world we have chosen the path of Logos; science and technology are the new gods.

And in choosing the rational reasoned mind and we have pushed aside huge parts of ourselves including the parts where we find:

  • Meaning
  • Relatedness
  • Love
  • Creativity
  • Wholeness

A world solely based on science and technology (the Logos) can only give us another pandemic.

Why?

The rational and reasoning mind implemented through science and technology has been amazingly good at focus and at taking things apart

They break things down into the smallest possible component. For example the cell, the atom, the element etc.

But they forget to...

Some Words of Wisdom from our Quarantine in Italy

Mar 13, 2020

My Loves,

As Covid-19 makes its presence felt in Europe and beyond, I thought I’d share some of things that I’ve learned from our time in quarantine here in Italy.  I hope some of it helps :)

Currently we are all following the ‘io resto a casa’ ruling, which means 'I stay at home'.  The virus is more contagious than ‘normal flu’ so limiting interpersonal contact is really important.  You can be perfectly healthy but be a carrier of the virus and this is why it is important to keep at least 1 metre (3 feet) away from other people when you are outside your home so that you do not give the virus to a person with a comprised immune system and make them ill or contract it yourself.

In Italy supermarkets, grocery stores and pharmacies remain open.  You can leave your house to buy groceries or medicine but each shop will only let a small amount of people in at a time based on the floor space of the store to limit...

The Power of the S-T-R-E-T-C-H

Mar 09, 2020

Here on the mountain nature is suggesting that spring might just be on its way.  The days are a little warmer and longer, and new life is starting to emerge from beneath the ground.  This week I saw wild irises and calendula accompanied by swathes of yellow as the mimosa trees burst into bloom.  I love the joy and positivity of spring, it’s a season full of potential and excitement.

I feel that nature is currently the perfect mirror for my own journey these past months.  I’ve been ‘underground’ putting down new roots and now finally I have stretched above the soil.  It’s an exciting and equally vulnerable time.

At the start of the year, Vincent and I launched the IN-Lightenment School.  Some of the ‘underground’ work involved licensing software that could host our on-line courses.  We committed financially to a years licence, paid the invoice and then looked at each other in blind panic...

What can Sympathetic Resonance teach us about Abundance?

Jan 06, 2020

The most well-known example of sympathetic resonance

involves a tuning fork. If we strike a tuning fork tuned to note A, it

vibrates at the frequency of note A. If we pass this vibrating tuning

fork over another tuning fork that is also tuned to note A, the second

tuning fork will vibrate even without striking it. The reason is that they

both resonate at the same frequency – in this example, note A.

Another way of saying it is that both tuning forks have a resonance that is

sympathetic to each other. Both tuning forks resonate with each other.

In terms of our planet, the Earth already has resonated at the note

of abundance. Once we give it a healing breath and give it some help,

like planting trees, we begin the process of getting the Earth to

resonate again at a note it already has achieved. We vibrate at

abundance by planting trees and it vibrates back in sympathy with this

resonance.

Recently, there was a really positive story from England. A

Searching for Abundance?

Jan 05, 2020

We are led to believe that prosperity and abundance is related to the amount of ‘stuff’ that we have. For me, this is not prosperity; it’s more to do with filling a hole inside ourselves. I’ve had that hole inside me, and I endeavoured to fill it in many ways, including consuming stuff like cars, clothes and, over the years, houses. The hole was a sign of something lacking within me: my self-worth, feeling unloved or unsafe.

Yes, I needed a house but maybe not the size I bought, the same with the car. The problem is we ask the Earth to pick up the tab for filling this hole. Each resource we consume, from a notepad to the bricks of your house, all come in some way from the earth. Either it was mined, drilled, dug up, logged from or grown on it. Prosperity for me now is clean air, clean water, natural chemical-free food, love and community with family, friends and neighbours.

I have seen people in Mongolia live quite happily in a yurt....
